Soldiers Rd Soft Piano
Soldiers Rd Soft Piano
Recorded at my parents house, on Soldiers Rd, this is a lovingly captured instrument that I always look forward to playing when I return home. The goal was to capture that feeling of home and bring the sound of the family piano with me to record music where ever I end up in the world.
I sampled a softly played note for every key on my folks Grand Piano (Yamaha C-series).The audio was recorded with a Neumann TLM 103 microphone, through a Harrison Pre-amp/EQ, into an Apollo Twin.
The recordings have some subtle background noise of birds and wildlife of the surrounding bushland, captured in the leafy suburb of Jannali, located in Sydney/ Australia. It’s not a perfect or clinical sample library, it's a soft airy analogue sounding grand piano, with a subtle cinematic tone.
This custom instrument rack is velocity sensitive and sounds nice and wide with pitch/pan modulation for some subtle psycho acoustics. I have also included macros to control a set of native plugins to Ableton, so you can access some control over, reverb, compression, a hi-cut filter, chorus, drive, and a tape wow effect.
Ableton pack, containing the instrument rack with all the audio files, and mapped macros for creative control.
